The Final Dawn Launches July 23rd!
16 Jul 2025
Last week we asked you to share your burning questions on our final Varlamore instalment, and you delivered! We collected up the most popular and are here to deliver some answers. Remember, The Final Dawn launches in just one week on Wednesday, July 23rd!
Can we walk between Zeah and Varlamore?
Yes! We're cutting the proverbial red tape on the bridge between Varlamore and the Kebos Lowlands, so those of you who have unlocked Varlamore can venture to the Shining Kingdom through there, as well as via your usual routes.
Is Tempestus included in The Final Dawn?
While The Final Dawn is in many ways a conclusion of the initial three big releases of Varlamore, our intention is to continue adding to Varlamore for years to come, much like with other areas of Gielinor. Tempestus is one of the things that we're hoping to introduce later down the line - which also answers all the questions of "does this mean Varlamore is finished?".
Will there be a Varlamore Achievement Diary?
We would like to add one eventually, but it won't be coming with The Final Dawn. We really want to make sure that if we're adding a new Diary, it's not likely to go out of date quickly due to new content. So our plan is to hold off until we feel like the region is ready.
Will there be capybara, hippo or toad pets?
We like to try keep Pets feeling very prestigious, and don't want to go overboard with adding too many. That being said there are new Pets available within the new content of Varlamore, but when it comes to the cappys, hippos and frogs, you'll have to admire them from afar. The Gemstone Crab also doesn't have a pet - we had lots of questions about that too.
Will more lighter quests be added to Varlamore?
Yes! Just like with previous Varlamore installments, we have a handful of smaller quests to get stuck into. That's all we're saying though, no spoilers!
Can we get a POH Quetzal?
Little Renu, your Quetzal, is only young, and isn't able to travel outside of Varlamore. So really, it's just not possible for her to get all the way to your POH!
Does the new Slayer dungeon quest have requirements? What are they?
It does! Here's the breakdown:54 Slayer45 Fishing41 Construction36 HunterCompletion of Children of the Sun
Will the Gemstone Crab be AFK and can we know more about the drops?
Yes, the Gemstone Crab is designed to be AFK and can be fought as a group or solo. You'll find the encrusted crustacean chilling out in a couple of different locations, and there's no waiting around for it to reappear once it's burrowed away - you can just follow it to the next spot! It doesn't have any core drops, but the top 16 players can mine a gem from its broken shell once it has scuttled on to its next location.
Delve Boss
Is the Delve boss Demonic?
Yes, The Doom of Mokhaiotl is a giant, insect-like, demonic creature, which means it's vulnerable to Demonbane!
Is the Delve boss like Inferno or Colosseum in terms of difficulty and time?
It can be really difficult to compare content like-for-like. We expect the earlier levels to be an introduction to the boss and its mechanics, which might pose a challenge to less-experienced players, whilst later levels bring with it notable spikes in difficulty and more-challenging mechanics that will test even the best players.
Will the Delve boss have a pet?
Yep, a pet will be available as a drop from Delve level six onwards!
How will the death fee work?Similar to Colosseum, there will be a reduced death cost for the first 20 attempts at the boss. After that, you will start paying the full price.
Fletching Activity
What tier of logs can I use for making totems and decorations?
Totems can be built using a range of wood types and decorations of the same wood type can be added to the totem. For example, an oak totem can only have oak bows (strung or unstrung), stocks and shields added to it.Oak (20 Fletching)Willow (35 Fletching)Maple (50 Fletching)Yew (65 Fletching)Magic (80 Fletching)Redwood (90 Fletching)
Will there be a better method to convert flax to bowstrings?
While we aren't adding a new way to make bow strings, the addition of the Bow String Spool will allow you to carry a much larger amount of bow strings before needing to bank.
What XP rates can we expect from the Fletching activity?
Fletching XP rates vary depending on routing efficiency and whether you're using the new Fletching Knife, but you can roughly expect the following per hour:Oak: 20k - 25kWillow: 50k - 60kMaple: 80k - 95kYew: 130k - 150kMagic: 245k - 285kRedwood: 300k - 350k
Will the Bowstring Spool "sink" the bowstrings into it or allow removal?
Strings can be freely removed from the Spool, and while near a bank you can also remove them as notes for easier emptying.
Over the past year, you've ventured into the Shining Kingdom and braved the Rising Darkness. On July 23rd, in Varlamore's final major content addition you'll experience The Final Dawn.
You'll begin to hear much more from us about Varlamore: The Final Dawn in July but for now we wanted to share the release date with you and offer a short reminder of all of the content that will be arriving alongside The Final Dawn.

The Doom of Mokhaiotl
The Doom is a Delve boss, and Delve bosses are a totally different beast to what you’ve fought before. Upon defeating Doom (we're assuming, of course, you're capable of such a feat) you’ll choose between leaving with your loot or fighting an even tougher version of the monster in hopes of a bigger prize. The boss will become increasingly challenging, and the rewards increasingly lucrative, capping at level 8, though you can continue to delve as many times as you like, keeping the level 8 cap. If you die, any loot you’ve earned so far will be lost, and you’ll be left empty-handed.
When the Doom is defeated, it will descend further into its burrow. Defeating it on the deeper levels increases the chance of receiving unique drops, and some unique drops will only appear at deeper, more dangerous levels. You must make all your delve progress in a single run, as returning to the surface will reset you back to delve level one.
The primary benefit to increasing your delve level is increasing your chance to snag unique rewards including: the Eye of Ayak, a new one-handed magic weapon, Avernic Treads which are a new pair of boots that allow you to combine Pegasian, Primordial, and Eternal boots for the ultimate tribrid footwear, and Confliction Gauntlets which offer an upgrade to the Tormented Bracelet.
The quantities of basic loot remain relatively consistent, however, which means that no matter how long you survive you won’t be overloaded with general resources.
There will be eight delve levels in total, each increasing in difficulty. You can keep repeating the hardest difficulty for as long as you can survive, but remember that if you do succumb to the Doom, you’ll lose everything
If you haven't seen it yet, we recommend checking out this trailer from the RuneFest Summit.

Auburnvale and Fletching
If you’re skilling-inclined, you might want to swing by Auburnvale. This town on the north coast of Varlamore has had some tough times, but their beautiful forests are second-to-none. They’re also inhabited by magical ents, who are keen to help you recycle all those bows cluttering up your Bank.
Ents roam the forest, leaving offerings as they praise the land. Join them, and connect to nature while levelling your Fletching skills! Whittle totems in the likeness of the local wildlife, decorate them with leftover bows, crossbow stocks, and shields. If they impress the local ents, you’ll receive XP and other rewards.
Rewards from the Fletching activity include: the Fletching knife, an off-hand bit of equipment which will reduce some crafts by 1-tick and works for any action that requires a knife check, the Bow String Spool which can store bow strings and save inventory space, Atlatl Dart Crafting (requiring 74 Fletching), the cosmetic Greenman mask, and two new POH decorations.
If you want to read the full Fletching Activity breakdown, you can check the dedicated blog, here.
The Custodia Pass Slayer Dungeon
The Custodia Pass is a hostile stretch of rocky ground that marks the border between Varlamore and Kourend, and it’s the perfect hunting ground for Slayer enthusiasts. After completing a quest, you’ll gain access to a new Slayer Dungeon teeming with creatures to slay. The Custodia Stalkers found within will drop the Antler Guard, a new tradeable offhand weapon which focuses on Prayer and Offensive bonuses (but with negative Defensive bonuses).
The Gemstone Crab
On the shores of the Tlati Rainforest lives a crab. Not just any crab. This crab is massive and covered with gems. Follow a trail of small crabs to find the Gemstone Crab and fight it together with your friends!
New Nagua
A new type of Nagua will be added which will drop the Earthbound Tecpatl as a reward. This is a two-handed twin weapon requiring 55 Attack to wield.
